AME049  |  Self-pumping magnetic cooling

The technology described herein is related to a device for simultaneous self-pumping and magnetic cooling. These devices can regulate on the principle of change in magnetization of ferrofluid with temperature.  The cooling device's performance is strongly depends on the heat load, magnetic particle content, magnetic field, shape of the device. Lowering temperature by 28 °C was achieved by the application of 0.3 T magnetic field. The designed system is self-regulating device as increase in heat load will cause an increase in driving force for the flud motion which eventually enhance heat transfer from the heat source to the heat sink.
