This technology is related to a sketch-based intelligent system that is widely used for pen-based devices. It is a gaze-based error recognition detection system intended to predict user intention to correct sketch misrecognitions. The system works through a multimodal computer-based intelligent user interface and corrects errors with at least 85 to 90% prediction accuracy.

Proper crowd monitoring/management can bring many benefits to business and operations. As camera modules are becoming cheaper and image/video analysis technologies are becoming more innovative, they enable easy deployment of cameras to monitor crowd level at desired sites. This technology is a low-cost open platform for crowd monitoring using video cameras. Through periodic capturing of images through camera, image analysis algorithm can be utilized to estimate the crowd level. The same program can be utilized for multiple crowd monitoring projects.

SDE046  |  Co-located Gaming System using Multiple Smartphones that are Spatially-Aware

The proposed invention is a method that allows multiple smartphones to compute accurate and instantaneous relative spatial and orientation relationships using only their in-built rear-facing camera within a room-sized physical gaming arena. The floor is overlaid with regularly-spaced visual patterns that allow the vision algorithm within the mobile device to compute its absolute position and orientation relative to these patterns. Each phone communicates its individual spatial information wirelessly to a central server phone, which can then coordinate the spatially-aware collaborative activity among the multiple mobile devices.

Using automatic license plate recognition (ALPR), vehicle license plate information can be extracted automatically from a sequence of images. The extracted information can be used in a variety of applications such as automatic ticketing of vehicles at car parking sites, tracking of vehicles that violate traffic signal rules, and customer service enhancements with a customer database.

A driver monitoring system utilizes sensors to monitor driver attentiveness. Such systems have been gradually introduced by car makers all over the world, in their bids to continuously improve road safety by preventing traffic accidents. The attentiveness includes drowsiness and concentration. If the driver is considered not paying attention to the road ahead and a dangerous situation is detected, the system will warn the driver (e.g. by flashing lights/ warning sounds). If no action is taken, the vehicle may intelligently apply the brakes. In our system, cameras are used. The system may also be applicable to fields other than automotive.

Security concerns due to spate of recent incidents have taken a heavy toll on resources which have to be deployed in more areas in society. Many has turned to video analytic to automatically detect and monitor suspicious activities or movements. This technology is an intelligent application that sits on a surveillance system (CCTV cameras and Digital Video Recorders (DVRs)) that monitor actively within the entire camera view. It transforms an ordinary passive system into an active one. Coupled with high speed deblurring and car plate recognition, the suite of solutions can be deployed to detect dynamic events.
