An Integrated Pest & Disease Management Platform For Crops


Abstract/Technology Overview

Data analytics platform that combines information from different technological modules such as geo-referenced scouting and spraying apps, soil sensors, and weather stations. Once the information is processed and analysed, it’s delivered back to the farmers via email, SMS, and access through our business intelligence platform. This information is used to plan biological controls, analyse and program the spraying of a particular product, monitor the incidence of pests and diseases, and automating greenhouses, among others. This platform is mostly used for protected cropping (greenhouses) and is currently implemented in over 1.500 greenhouses around the world.

Managing pests and diseases with traditional methods can take as much as 40% of the final income for farmers, it is a big international problem and a tremendous amount of lost income for farmers. 

This technology can be used from large-scale productivity farms to small urban farming units. The company is looking for potential partners in IoT and AI technology to take the smart platform to a higher level of automation and scalability.

For urban farming, the company is seeking to provide users with a virtual 24/7 agronomist to support them with weather and pests and disease management, not only providing the most accurate recommendations but also taking the best actions for them on time. Accessing urban farming can link to school programs where kids can learn in a very interactive way to take care of their own food without the hassle of living in rural areas and making use of technologies they use on daily basis, mobile phones and computers, which makes our solution very easy to adopt by them.

In the pursuit of reaching the ultimate goal of minimising the use of pesticides and producing in a more sustainable way, the company is currently working on a new “Pesticides Free -minimal use-  Certificate” that will be used by companies, government and customers to get a unique and trusted source of truth about the provenance and practices used to produce the products. The tools and practices provided by the platform allow the generation of real-time and secure reports that will transform the way buyers buy their food at supermarkets.
