High Throughput Blockchain Protocol

Abstract/Technology Overview

We take quality blockchain and cybersecurity research from the National University of Singapore to develop solutions to critical business problems. We spun out our public blockchain protocol, which implements sharding and its own programming language, to achieve high throughput and more secure smart contracts. We also used Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) to reduce the attack surface of applications, and have created a full crypto-custody solution. We also have a private blockchain solution based on the design of our blockchain protocol which we deploy for enterprise clients.

Technology Features, Specifications and Advantages

Our public blockchain can process 2000 transactions per second, far higher than competing networks that process only 7-8 transactions per second. Using Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX), we removed the attack surface at the operating system and middleware for a crypto-custody application. We focus on ensuring high throughput on our own blockchains, developed from pioneering research conducted at the National University of Singapore, and using Trusted Execution Environments that allow hardware to protect against software vulnerabilities.

Potential Applications

Our announced applications include supporting one of the world's largest online advertisers in combating advertising fraud, creating smart contracts for new insurance markets, in settlement and securities trading for the Singapore Exchange (SGX), and as a part of the Monetary Authority of Singapore's (MAS) Project Ubin - an initiative to test blockchain use in the financial sector. We also work with one of the largest banks in Indonesia to use blockchain for trade finance and remittance.
