Effective AI-based Pest Animal Control

Abstract/Technology Overview

An innovative solution for feral/pest animal problem has been developed. The solution uses Artificial Intelliegnce (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) to effectively deploy controls. The solution provides an effective and efficient way to manage pest animals in the farms. 

The solution consists of AI-based software that can detect animals and decide if it is the targeted species. This software is available as a SaaS (Software as a Service) platform to automate image and trend analysis of large amounts of data. The key customers for the platform are conservation bodies and research institutes focused on native animal conservation. 

The software is encapsulated in IoT capable hardware device for effective feral animal control in remote areas. This solution can reduce operational costs for farmers and provide them a decision support system by capturing relevant data from individual farms. The solution is designed in a such a way that it can be implemented for different animals across different geographical regions.  

Technology Features, Specifications and Advantages

The technology uses AI for providing decision support in the farms and conservation areas. The solution includes Cloud-based SaaS platform and IoT capable hardware device.  The unit works on offline AI model which makes it useful for remote areas.

The solution uses proximity and camera sensors to capture images. The images are analysed by the offline processing unit which hosts entire logic required to identify targeted species. The edge device holds logic necessary to confirm the species and trigger actions based on the analysis.  There is option to send out user alert using low bandwidth option. Our technology supports different low bandwidth options including Sigfox, LoRa.

The software and design is flexible i.e. it can be used in different farm conditions and for any pest animals. Though the current focus in traditional farms, the technology owner has seen various use cases enabled with it. It integrated with different kinds of pest animal controls used across the world such as various traps, baiting stations.
